After stepping away to adjust to some life changes, I’m back and ready to pour myself back into some good old fashioned blogging. Raise your hand if you’ve missed blogs, too.
To begin with, I went back to all of the archived posts and I republished a handful of the most popular posts from my first thirteen years of blogging and knitting. This should help you find those old favorites.
However, a few things will be changing around here. My life isn’t the same as it was when I started blogging. So, it seems reasonable to me that since the blog is basically me talking out loud to myself, the things I share here and the way that I share it have changed, too.
A promise to you (and a reality check for me)
I want to commit to being consistent. I want to bring you new content. I want to deliver that to you with the same level of honesty and authenticity I always have.
I stepped away from blogging because I felt like I couldn’t maintain that in my circumstances. I felt like a fraud writing about simple living and creativity when my life felt like anything but. Impostor syndrome in full force.
Now that life has changed, I want to try it again. I’ve missed it. I want to do it and I want to do it well.
That said, I’m not a girl boss or a momtrepreneur.
Look this blog isn’t my business. This isn’t my side hustle. This is simply my hobby. This is something I love that I want to share.
No pressure and no high expectations, okay? Let’s just hang out and see what happens.
I'm looking forward to your posts! I'm a few years behind you, I think (turning 40 this fall, 2 kids turning 11 and 7 also in fall), and I have also noticed that the parenting talk trickles off as the kids get older. A few bloggers I've enjoyed over the years have said that they're going to start posting more, and it makes me so happy. Enjoy your summer break!

#same – can't wait to see what you share! I have been in the same boat with my own blog. I really enjoyed blogs so much more when it was more about community and sharing life with others and less about how-to's. It is hard to be consistent!

Glad you are back. I am in the same phase of life as well. Kids in college and high school, expenses to pay and so much more. While I love being in my 40's, it has proven to not be as easy as I thought it would be. Can't wait to see what your blog has to offer as we Gen X'ers navigate our mid life.

YES! I'm so ready to hear your point of view on these topics. We're in the same phase of life, I've also missed blogging, and I agree wholeheartedly that there is a need for resources in raising older kids. I've already planned to start blogging again in August, but your return like this inspires me further. Thanks, Kara.

basically in the exact same phase of life and doing the same things…about the only difference is that I have 2 children (8/17) and my husband works in IT

Hallelujah to this! I am 50 and have a 10 year old DD. I have struggled with the blogging thing. I love to write, but never have been able to get the moneymaking aspect of it down and then I would feel like it wasn't worth writing. But, you've inspired me. I'm going to make a comeback, too! I need to renew my blog address and get busy. Mid-life and older children IS something that isn't talked about much on blogs. And I love your ideas for that. Looking forward to coming along side you in this journey!
