"She exhausts easily under the pressure to be interesting."

It's October 21st!

It’s October 21st! I recently rewatched this scene (season 1, episode 7, scene 2) and it feels like a sign / good excuse to turn the lights back on.

I suppose the most direct way I can explain my absence is to let you know it was due to illness.

On April 2, 2025 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two surgeries and a ten year prescription for Tamoxifen later (a drug which improves my odds of not having a hormone positive breast cancer recurrence) and I can happily and with much relief tell you that I’m in survivorship.

I read and reread this book. If you’re in a similar space, perhaps you’ll find it a good companion?

To risk making light of a life changing situation, and to paraphrase Frasier, yes I’m mourning the loss of what I thought my life was going to be but I am also embracing the idea that things can work out anyway.

I’m still here.

I’m still reading, writing, knitting, and yes still watching my comfort shows.

I’m also taking long quiet walks and actively discovering what makes me truly happy right now. I’m prioritizing my health. My happiness. This beautiful second chance.

Life the last handful of years has been one brutal reminder after another of how fragile it all is.

Another companion I’ve been thankful for while navigating the last 18 months.
