I have been knitting along to the Murder, She Baked movies.

My youngest daughter and I enjoy watching the series, after discovering it a few years ago on the Hallmark channel. She and I were looking for a detective show we could enjoy together that was intriguing and had a fun mystery but was not too scary or suspenseful.

We’re currently rewatching the movies in anticipation of the new Hannah Swensen movie being released by Hallmark later this year.

We have a subscription to Hallmark+ (ours is through our Amazon prime account, selecting Hallmark+ as an add-on channel to subscribe to).

The mysteries are about the accidental detective Hannah Swensen, a baker in Eden Lake / Lake Eden, Minnesota who owns a bakery called The Cookie Jar. Hannah is played by actress Allison Sweeney.

I described the movies to someone recently as life in the Gilmore Girls’ Stars Hollow but a little cozy murder-y. Don’t take them too seriously, just enjoy the excuse to play amateur detective alongside Hannah for ninety minutes.

There is some light will they or won’t they romance and plenty of baking. I get a kick out of seeing what Hannah’s mother Delores is up to each movie. But mostly the movies are about Hannah solving the whodunnit.

My daughter and I think the Hallmark movie series is worth checking out. Maybe you will, too?
